  1. Background

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) is one of the former departments opened in 2002 E.C/ 2009 G.C under College of Engineering and Technology in Aksum University. Electrical and Computer Engineering is the branch of engineering that deals with the technology of electricity and electronics, especially the design and application of electronic circuit, equipment for power generation and distribution, machine control, communications and computer hardware and software.

  1. Objective
    1. General Objective
      • To train high level of technical man power on the field of Electrical and Computer Engineering who can participate in the national development
      • To render consultancy services to the community
      • To carry out research in areas of Electrical and Computer Engineering and relevant to the needs of the country
    2. Specific Objective
  • Train Electronic communication Engineers, Industrial control Engineers, Computer Engineers and Electric power Engineers.
  • To prepare graduates with the capability of following the current and feature developments in the field and related applications
  • To enable graduates work as a team in addressing technical problems which may be encountered in industry in real life
  • To provide opportunity for workers in the field of electrical technology to upgrade their knowledge through a continuing education evening program
  • To provide graduates with sufficient back ground in any one of the various specialized areas of electrical engineering disciplines
  • To encourage students in research that offers optimal solution to technical problems in the industry, energy sector, telecommunication, computer applications and other industry sectors.
  • To offer consultancy service to government, industry and society.
